Sen Abbas Mourns As Islamic Cleric, Modibbo Gudunmiya Dies

The Senator Representing Adamawa Central Senatorial District Aminu Iya Abbas has expressed shock over the death of one of the pillars of Tijjaniya Movement in Nigeria and Adamawa in particular Sheikh Modibbo Hamidu Gudunmiya who died in Gudunmiya, Hong LGA Friday.

Aminu Iya Abbas described the Khalifa of Modibbo Jailani Yola and renown Islamic Scholar, as a bridge-builder who promotes peace, unity, love and tolerance during his life time.

The senator in a condolence message through his Media Office, Yola. on behalf of the people of Adamawa Central said the late Islamic Scholar would forever be remembered for fostering peace and unity among religious groups in the state, country and even beyond.

He said the late cleric was a devout Muslim leader and would also be remembered for his moderating influence, wealth of experience and private practice.

He urged the family of the late cleric, the people of Adamawa, the Muslim community especially the Tijjaniya Movement to take consolation in the knowledge that the late renowned Islamic scholar made indelible contributions to the development of the state.

Child Dedication: Adamawa Dep Gov, Others Pray For Maduwa Family’s Newborn

Adamawa State Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta has prayed God to bless the new baby born to the family of Stephen Maduwa, describing it as source of succour and blessings.

Speaking at St Augustine Catholic Church Bekaji Sunday, Farauta appreciated the family for being close and supportive to the seat of power.

“That is why Governor Fintiri deems it fit to celebrate the new born baby and the entire faith community. Our prayer is that the baby would be a source of succour and will be pillar in the house of the Lord, she said.

The deputy governor among others prayed to God bless the new baby.

The Catholic Bishop of Yola, Most Reverend Stephen Dami Mamza in his address, enjoined Christians to stand against any divisive tendencies, and work towards achieving Christ’s desire for unity among His followers.

In his vote of thanks, Maduwa prayed God to bless families seeking the fruit of the womb.

He thanked officials from the state government for gracing the dedication of his child.

Gov Fintiri Swears In New Commissioner, Special Adviser

Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has presided over the swearing in of Alh. Hamajumba Gatugel, as substantive Commissioner of Transport.

Also sworn in was Honourable Justina Obadiah Nkom, as Special Adviser to the Governor.

The swearing in event which took place in the Council Chambers Government House Yola was administered by the State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice Afraimu Jingi.

While congratulating the duo the Governor expressed confidence on their ability to deliver on the mandate assigned to them and wish them a successful tenure.

In his response, the newly sworn in Commissioner Alhaji Gatugel, maintained that he will brought his wealth of experience as a unionist and support the Governor and the government to succeed.

Alhaji Gatugel, replaced Musa Mahmud Kalamu who won the seat of the member representing Mayo Belwa constituency in the State House of Assembly.
