Bauchi Trains 850 Health Workers on DRF

About 850 health personnel across the state are undergoing training on Drug Revolving Fund DRF as part of efforts to strengthen the implementation DRF in public health facilities organised by the Bauchi State Drugs and Medical Consumables Management Agency (DMMMA).

The Managing Director of the Bauchi State Drugs and Medical Consumable management Agency, Pharmacist Abdulkadir Ahmad disclosed this while explaining the ongoing DRF expansion programme in the State, saying that the training was aimed at ensuring proper management, accountability, and sustainability of essential medicines at the facility level.

Pharmacist Abdulkadir reveal that the agency did not directly select the health facilities for DRF implementation, but requested local governments to nominate facilities of their choice, which according to him the DMMMA deployed trained experts to assess the readiness of the selected facilities before commencing training.

He added that three personnel per facility including essential drug officers and key supervisory officials at the local government level were be trained to ensure effective oversight and sustainability of the DRF scheme.

The Managing Director stressed that the training was to conducted before the distribution of commodities to ensure that health workers possess the required knowledge on drug management, documentation, storage, and accountability.

He further disclosed that following the training, health facilities would receive the necessary documentation tools and essential medicines, adding that distribution of commodities is expected to commence in January 2026.

Pharmacist Ahmad therefore commended the Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, for his continuous support to the agency, which he said has enabled the expansion of DRF coverage and capacity building across the health sector.
