The Adamawa State Government has released a detailed breakdown of its 2026 Approved Budget, highlighting the allocation of funds to key sectors and strategic developmental priorities.
The announcement was made by Honourable Anthony Emmanuel Piridimso, Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, during a press briefing in Yola on Friday.
Hon. Piridimso explained that the 2026 budget, tagged the “Budget of Sustainable Growth and Economic Renewal,” builds on the developmental strides achieved by the present administration and sets the stage for post-consolidation investments across education, healthcare, agriculture, critical infrastructure, and water supply.
The Commissioner emphasized that the budget is designed to ensure transparency, accountability, and proper utilization of resources in all sectors.
Reviewing the 2025 fiscal year, the Commissioner noted that the state had an approved budget of N486.22 billion, which was later increased to N621.29 billion following a supplementary allocation. Of this total, N167.54 billion (26.97%) was earmarked for recurrent expenditure, while N453.75 billion (73.03%) was set aside for capital development. Actual revenue collection by September 2025 amounted to N235.34 billion, representing 37.9% of the approved budget.
In terms of expenditure, N99.83 billion was spent on recurrent services, with personnel costs accounting for N47.73 billion and overhead costs totaling N52.09 billion. Capital expenditure reached N89.69 billion, distributed across administration, economic development, social services, and law and justice sectors.
For 2026, the state government has approved a total budget of N583.33 billion. Out of this, N104.23 billion is allocated for personnel costs, N105.41 billion for overheads, and a lion’s share of N373.69 billion is devoted to capital development programs.
Among the major recipients are the Ministry of Works and Energy Development (N122.69 billion), Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development (N44.50 billion), Ministry of Health and Human Services (N32.99 billion), and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (N27.15 billion).
The budget also allocates substantial resources to social programs, roads, water resources, youth empowerment, and environmental improvement, reflecting the government’s commitment to sustainable growth and improving the standard of living for residents.
Revenue projections for the fiscal year include statutory allocations of N135.07 billion, VAT receipts of N106.36 billion, LNG revenues of N125.10 billion, excess crude oil proceeds of N28.69 billion, and internally generated revenue of N35.84 billion.
Hon. Piridimso outlined key policy objectives of the 2026 budget, including compliance with International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS), the introduction of e-budgeting to reduce costs, and the harnessing of untapped sources of internally generated revenue.
He said the budget also aligns with Vision 20:2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to ensure holistic economic growth and social development.
He called on all stakeholders, including the press, to partner with the government to ensure full implementation of the budget. “The successful execution of this budget will transform the socio-economic landscape of Adamawa State,” he said, adding, “Long live Adamawa State! Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!”
