The Kaduna State Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano (YUMSUK) Qur’anic Recitation Committee, Kaduna State chapter has called on parents to encourage their children to participate in MUSABAQA at all levels.

The Musabaqa which drew participants from across the political wards of the Local Government, took place at the SMC Juma’ah Masjeed in Unguwan Dosa, Kaduna.

State Chairman, Arc. Haruna Abubakar Bamalli made the call during the closing ceremony of the Qur’anic Recitation Competition at the LG level in preparation for the upcoming State competition 2025.

Arc. Bamalli, who was represented by the Secretary of the Committee, Malam Sulaiman Abubakar Kanoma, expressed concern about the low turnout of participants.

He recalled that in the past, whenever MUSABAQA was held, the Masjid used to be filled with participants and their fellow non-participant students.

The Chairman also urged Islamic teachers to redouble their efforts in sensitising their students on the importance of participating in Qur’anic Recitation Competition and the opportunities attached to it.

Arc. Haruna Abubakar Bamalli noted that if students are participating in MUSABAQA even at the ward level, it will improve their knowledge and understanding of the Holy Qur’an correctly.

While describing MUSABAQA as a practical, Bamalli encouraged even those who will not participate to attend, as it will also help them to correct their mistakes.

He congratulated the two winners, a male and a female, who will represent Kaduna North LG at the State level, which he said is the 2nd edition organised by the Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano (YUMSUK).

The State Chairman further reaffirmed their commitment to the propagation of Islam and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as well as assisting the young people to participate in MUSABAQA globally.

Members of the Committee at the Local Government level were inaugurated and presented with appointment letters during the event.

Malam Musa Abdullahi is the Kaduna North Chairman and Malam Tanimuddaree Abdulkarim was appointed as the LG Coordinator among others.

Former Chairman of Kaduna North Local Government Council, Hon Musa Shareef, was among the distinguished dignitaries who graced the occasion.
