The state chairman of Christain Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bishop Stephen Dami Mamza has called for calm and renewed hope as the state goes for a rerun of the governorship election.
Mamza appealed to politicians in Adamawa State to keep all activities and exchange pleasantries to pave way for an atmosphere of tolerance and respect to flourish in the state.
Mamza stated this in a press conference against the backdrop of March 18th Governorship election in all the thirty six States of the federation in his office Sunday.
He said as Christain leaders in Adamawa they hinged their strength and trust on the promise made by the electoral body for free, Fair and credible polls this twenty twenty three.
Bishop Dami expressed concerned about some irregularities in the collation and tabulation of results during the March eighteen polls in the state.
The CAN Chairman called on all to remain calm and renew their confidence on INEC Independence and professionalism for openness, transparency and fairness in handling of votes of the electorates as the state set for a rerun.
Dami also appealed with strong voice to law enforcement agencies and Media not to allow institutional pressure and interference affect their conduct as they try to give an unbiased and extensive coverage of the process of voting, collation and tabulation of results.
The bishop equally called on all citizens particularly community and religious leaders and youths to continue to be law abiding as they commit themselves to every cause that will promote the common good of all and shun anything that will bring dishonesty in the state.
He hopes and prays that all shall be well for INEC to straighten their confidence through their openness, transparency and fairness and entire electoral process to be credible.
