Women-led organisations, including the Yusrah Muslim and Women Youth Organisation of Nigeria and the Yola North Widows Association, have paid courtesy visits to the Adamawa State Office of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), calling for stronger collaboration to support widows, women, and youths across the state.
During the visits, the groups highlighted the growing socio-economic challenges faced by widows and young people, particularly in communities affected by insecurity and displacement.
They appealed to the Commission to expand empowerment, welfare, and psychosocial intervention programmes aimed at improving livelihoods and social inclusion.
Receiving the delegations, the Adamawa State Coordinator of the NEDC, Barrister Khalifa M. Lawan, welcomed the initiatives and reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to inclusive and people-centred development.
He assured the groups that NEDC remains open to partnerships that align with its mandate of rebuilding lives and strengthening community resilience in the North-East.
Barr. Lawan stressed that women and youth-focused interventions remain a priority for the Commission, noting that sustainable development cannot be achieved without deliberate investment in vulnerable groups.
In a related engagement, the Adamawa State Coordinator represented the NEDC at the Annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day ceremony held at Ribadu Square, Yola, where he joined other dignitaries in honouring the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who paid the supreme price in defence of the nation.

The Armed Forces Remembrance Day ceremony underscored the need for continued support for families of fallen servicemen and women, a cause the visiting women groups said aligns with their advocacy efforts across the state.
