The newly appointed Vice Chancellor, Modibbo Adama University, MAU Yola, Prof. Ibrahim Umar, the Provost, College of Nursing and Midwifery, CNM Yola, Dr. Lami Aminu, the Senior Special Assistant, SSA to Adamawa State Governor on New Media, Muhammad Bakari Tukur and Dr Akoshile Olawale Hafiz, MD Meddy Clinic are among the personalities invested with the Fellow Membership of the Institute of Business Diplomacy and Financial Management, IBDFM.
The Institute at its 74th Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD) held at Lamido Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa Hall, College of Nursing and Midwifery Yola, Adamawa State on Saturday, honoured Honourable Yayaji Ibrahim Mijinyawa, Adamawa state Commissioner Local Government Affairs and Chieftaincy Affairs with ICON OF DIPLOMATIC LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT AWARD, making him the third recipient of the recognised distinguished member award in the state after Her Excellency the Deputy Governor, Prof Kaletapwa George Farauta and Her Excellency the First Lady of the State, Hajiya Lami Ahmadu Fintiri.
The Institute’s lecture with the theme: Corporate Treasury Management Best Practice, articulated by Prof Bashir Daneji of Modibbo Adama University, MAU Yola identified two main areas of treasury management, namely, cash management, which involves optimizing cash flows, liquidity and working capital, and risk management, which focuses on identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial risks such as interest rate risk, foreign exchange risk, and credit risk.
The Deputy Governor Adamawa state, who is also a Fellow Member of the Institute, serving as Special Guest of Honour has identified the IBDFM with MAU Yola, where she commended the Institute for the MCPD programme she expressing that it’s essential, especially in academia that demands for a continued knowledge upgrade and update.
For newly inducted members, prof Farauta hoped that the lecture would add value to their works of life and themselves to the Institute. “You must keep abreast with new knowledge, techniques and technology if you want to remain relevant professionally”.
The President and Chairman of Council, Dr Gado Shehu, represented by Prof Ibrahim Danjuma, commended the old members for opting to have their knowledge upgraded by participating in the MCPD Programme and congratulated the new members for joining the Institute.
The President has called on the new inductees to always align with global best practices in handling financial resources to achieve strategic objectives in cash, liabilities and assets management.
“Your decision to join the professional league of this noble institute would offer numerous benefits and privileges for development,” he said.
