The Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board (ADSUBEB) recently hosted a farewell visit from a delegation of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), marking the conclusion of specific projects in the state’s basic education sector.
The delegation, led by Dr. Nura, included team members from the Information and Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) units. They were warmly received by the Executive Chairman of ADSUBEB, Dr. Murtala Umar Babayi, and other senior officials of the Board.
Dr. Nura commended ADSUBEB for its outstanding performance and applauded the Executive Chairman’s dedication to advancing USAID-supported interventions. He emphasized the impact of ADSUBEB’s collaboration with USAID on improving foundational learning outcomes in the state.
In his remarks, Mallam Mustafa Ahmed, Director of Quality Assurance, highlighted key benefits derived from the partnership, particularly in implementing the National Reading Framework and promoting Private Sector Engagement in education.
Dr. Murtala Umar Babayi expressed deep appreciation for USAID’s unwavering support over the years and reaffirmed the Adamawa State Government’s commitment to delivering quality and inclusive basic education.
He also expressed optimism about future partnerships and continued collaboration.
The USAID team acknowledged persistent challenges such as teacher shortages and the issue of out-of-school children, promising to explore avenues for further assistance within their capacity.
The visit signaled the formal conclusion of USAID’s current interventions with ADSUBEB, but both parties remain hopeful for renewed collaboration to sustain progress in the state’s education sector.
