The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has handed over a new consignment of family planning commodities to the Bauchi State, as part of efforts to improve access to reproductive health services across the state.
The items, which include 138,072 doses of Sayana Press and 10,908 units of Implanon NXT, were received by the Executive Chairman of the Primary Healthcare Board, Dr. Rilwanu Mohammed, alongside the Managing Director of the Drugs and Medical Materials Agency (DMMA), Pharmacist Abdulkadir Ahmed.
Speaking during the handing over ceremony, Deborah Tabara, the Gender Reproductive Health Analyst of UNFPA in Bauchi said the commodities were procured with funding from the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) as part of ongoing national efforts to strengthen reproductive health systems.
Deborah reveal that the new CIFF-funded supply is part of an 18-month (2025–2026) national agreement to procure quality-assured family planning commodities for seven priority states, including Bauchi.

She therefore expressed UNFPA’s appreciation for the Bauchi State Government’s commitment to reproductive health and its continued collaboration toward achieving the agency’s global transformative goals, while reaffirming its dedication to supporting Bauchi State to improve reproductive health outcomes and ensure that every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person’s potential is fulfilled.
Receiving the commodities, the Executive Chairman, Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Board Dr Rilwanu Sulaiman said that the items come at a right time, considering the needs from the citizens of the state.
Dr Rilwanu assured the determination of the state government towards improving access to reproductive health services across the state.
Also speaking, the managing Director of Drugs and Medical Consumables management agency DMMA Pharmacist Abdulkadir Ahmad pledge the agencies commitment in ensuring fairness during the distribution of the commodities.
