The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended two suspected members of the notorious Shilla cult group involved in a series of armed robbery incidents in Yola. The arrests took place on January 19, 2025, following swift action by police operatives.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, confirmed the arrests in a statement.

He disclosed that the suspects were intercepted at Malamre Junction after the police received a report of a robbery along Yola Road. The suspects had allegedly robbed Uba Ibrahim of his iPhone XR at Jippu Jam Toll Gate using a tricycle.

The suspects, identified as Hamza Ibrahim, 19, from Behind Shopping Complex in Jimeta-Yola North Local Government Area, and Abdulkarim Suleiman, 20, from Sengere Samunaka in Yola South Local Government Area, were found in possession of the stolen phone, a tricycle, and a sharp knife believed to have been used in the robberies.

Further investigations revealed that the suspects had also robbed Bello Babangida of his iPhone 7 along Jimeta-Yola Road. Both stolen phones were recovered by the police.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, PSC (+), commended the timely response of the police and praised the cooperation of the public in providing actionable information.

He emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between the police and citizens to enhance service delivery.

CP Morris assured the public that the suspects would face diligent prosecution to ensure justice is served.
