Residents of the Sardauna Memorial College, SMC Staff School, have appealed to the Chairman of the Kaduna North LG Council, Hon. Mukhtar Baloni, to come to their aid.
Some of the residents made the plea in an interview with Sahel Reporters in Kaduna on Thursday, 8th August, 2025.
They described the situation as worrisome, recalling that the school community spent the whole month of the last Ramadan without power.
They also described the theft of the transformer, which was dedicated to the College and its Staff Quarters as unfortunate.

According to a source, who preferred anonymity said the transformer, which is located close to the gate and the security room, was stolen while security guards were inside the school for over three (3) hours.
The residents further urged the Senator representing Kaduna North Senatorial District, Senator Ibrahim Khalid Mustapha and their Federal Lawmaker, Hon. Bello Nasir El-rufa’i to look into their plight.
One of the residents, Mohammed Suleiman, expressed optimism that they would soon be out of the long-time darkness, which he said had seriously hindered their comfort.

Sahel Reporters gathered that a Committee constituted by the school community are making tireless efforts to secure another transfer from some political office holders.
To this end, it was further gathered that no rest was made in connection with the theft of the transformer.
It is worth noting that the college was established in 1967 by Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Emir of Kuwait.
The school was initially named after the Emir of Kuwait, but later changed to Sardauna Memorial College to honor Sir Ahmadu Bello, the late Premier of Northern Nigeria, after his death.
