The Figures Are Worrisome!!!

By Muhammad Umar Shehu and Dangana Henry Joseph

There were figures we read recently on Blueprint newspaper which stated a statistics that says “2021 officials raises alarm as terrorists killed 1,192, kidnap 3,348 in Kaduna.” And this figures were worrisome in nature because till date no any action by the government to tackle such acts.

We write this with tears in our eyes because of the happenings of insecurities that is bedevilling this country which it sort not to happen in such a way since we all have rights to live and move freely in this country but these rights are no way to be found in this great country, I don’t think we can continue in this way.

This issue of insecurity is rampant in this country bloodshed is everywhere people are being killed unjustly every now and then and now any measure to tackle such menaces bedevilling this country.

Contrary to the statistics showed above one may say this country is in a solemn situation that need urgent control to stop the happenings of insecureness and insecurity baffling this nation .

By looking at how kidnapping, banditry and other social vices bedevilling this country am with the view that some measures need to be put in place to tackle such phenomenon for the betterment of the populace and the electorates for us to have a great Nigeria.

Nigeria is a great country but to my dismay it turn out to be a battle field for insecurities, kidnapping, banditry, Boko Haram and other social vices which need urgent control because the electorates are suffering at this worsening situation.

Nigeria is a country bedevilled with myriad of phenomenon that need urgent control because a lots are happening in this country and we need to tackle such menaces because the general public are suffering from the activities of insecurity baffling this Country.

We need peace, harmony and unity to be permanent in this country. And these write up is cooked out of zeal and passion in regaining the lost glory of our dear country Nigeria.

Our dear country cannot grow to compete with other fast developing nations of the world if the situation continues the way it is going, it is giving a bad signal to the world that no where secure in this country.

It could be vividly recalled that sometimes last year in August 24:2021,it was reported by vanguard news paper how bandits attacked the Nigeria Defence Academy (N D A) in Kaduna.

Two officers were killed during the attack while another was abducted.

A source told journalists that the bandits who were disguised in military uniform ,came to the NDA in a vehicle and headed to the officers quarters.

The bandits were said to have shot sporadically, causing fear and confusion in the Academy which is located not very far from the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka.

Major Bashir Muhd Jajira, the Academy Public Relations Officer, said in a statement that “the security architecture of the Nigerian Defence Academy was compromised early this morning by unknown gunmen who gained access into the residential area within the Academy in Afaka. During the unfortunate incident, we lost two personnel and one was abducted.”

“The Academy in collaboration with the 1Division Nigerian Army and Air Training Command as well as other security agencies in Kaduna state has since commenced pursuit of the unknown gunmen within the general area with a view to tracking them and rescue the abducted personnel.”
“The NDA community and Cadets are safe in the Academy. We assure the general public that this unknown gunmen would soo n be apprehended and the abducted personnel rescued”

Sadly as the numbers of attacks by bandits keep increasing ,we still believe in the ability of our security agencies to curtail it and bring the act to an end.

However, we are commending the unrelenless gallant efforts of our security agencies in keeping faith in our country by always answering distressed calls by citizens of this country whenever the calls are been put to them.

We are calling on the government to do all that is possible to continue to improve the well being of our security agencies whose lives are always at stake in other to protect this great nation.

Also government should continue to provide them with modern equipment to function well like their colleagues in other developing nations.

On the part of the citizens, even though the figures are worrisome, we should be quick to hear, but slow to speak.

We as citizens of this country, should leave in peace with one and other, bearing in mind that we are one and that the unity of this country is non negotiable.

And if it is so, then we most learn to live together and respect each other religion, feeling’s, life and interest. Also helping our security agencies with useful information that would help in bringing the issues of insecurity to an end.
