Taraba Journalists Mourns NCWS President, Haj. Lami Adamu Lau

Journalists in Taraba State under the umbrella of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Taraba State Council, have expressed rude shock over the demise of the President of the National Council of Women Societies NCWS, Hajiya Lami Adamu Lau.

In a statement signed by the Chairman, NUJ, Taraba State Council, Comrade Mathew Eliud Jen, and issued to the press, the union disclosed that the demise of Late Hajiya Lami Adamu Lau has left a huge vacuum that may be difficult to fill. 

The union described Late Hajiya Lau as a dedicated leader and champion of women’s empowerment whose contributions to women’s causes stand tall in the history of gender activism in Nigeria.

“Her tireless efforts to improve the lives of Nigerian women and families will hardly be forgotten. 

It explained that her principled and dogged fight against the oppression of women and her commitment to making life easy for Nigerian women are legacies that will stand a taste of time.

“The late woman of substance was indeed, a respected woman who worked hard with others to foster the unity and harmony being enjoyed amongst the Nigeria women. 

She was a virtuous woman who always used her leadership position to engineer positive changes in the behavior and character of women.

“Hajiya will be greatly missed and remembered for her boldness, fairness, and courageous women activists, which stood her out amongst other women in present-day Nigeria. Her departure is a great loss not only to the people of Taraba State but entire country”. The statement added.

While commiserating with the family of the deceased, the journalists urged them to take solace in the fact that she lived a fulfilled life and contributed immensely to the peaceful coexistence in the women’s world until her demise, even as they prayed to God to grant her soul eternal rest.
