A religious organization, Integrated Christian Ministers Association of Nigeria (ICMAN) has disassociated itself from the purported endorsement of the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic party (PDP) in Taraba State, Lt. Col Agbu Kefas(rtd) by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Taraba State chapter.
Briefing journalists in Jalingo on Tuesday 27th February 2023, President of the association, Bishop Silas Usman Loto described the endorsement as a wrong decision and divisive.

The group maintained that the letter written by the CAN leadership in the State directing all Christians to vote for the PDP Governorship candidate in the march 11th 2023 governorship election was unacceptable.
According to the group, the Christians in the State have other qualified Christian candidates like the APC’s Sen. Emmanuel Bwacha, the SDP Danladi Baido, and the Labour Party, Sen. Danlami Ikenya among others, and singling out one candidate for endorsement without consultation was a clear indication that CAN was bias.

“We call on all Christians in Taraba State to disregard the purported endorsement of PDP’s Agbu Kefas by CAN.
Bishop Loto urged all Christians across the state to pray to God for a direction regarding who to vote for in the forthcoming governorship election.
“There are other Christians contesting for the governorship and singling one person out for endorsement without due consultation is unacceptable.
“We should pray for God to give us a leader after his own heart and not be selective based on personal interest,” he added.
He also described the purported endorsement of the PDP governorship candidate as an embarrassment to the Christians community in the state and rejected the move in totality.
“CAN have in 2019, imposed a candidate on us on the basis of Christianity and today we are all suffering his bad governance,” the group lamented.
“So, we stand to reject the endorsement of the PDP governorship candidate and call on all Christians in Taraba to pray and vote for credible candidate that would develop the state for the interest of all citizens,”the group emphasized.
