The Federal Government through the Coordination office of Sector-wide approach SWAp has revealed its determination toward deliverying standard services in emergency and obstetric and newborn care (CEmONC)
The initiative was aim to improve manpower and infrastructure in at least one secondary health facility within all the 774 local governments areas across the nation.
The representative of SWAp Coordinator and also the Technical assistant to the Coordinating Minister of Health Dr Ashiru Adamu Abubakar stated this during a one day meeting ok Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care CEmONC organized by the State Ministry of health in collaboration with the Coordination Office of Sector-wide Approach (SWAp) in the health sector in Nigeria and Johns Hopkins Program for International Education in Gynecology and Obstetrics (JHPIEGO).
Dr Ashiru Adamu stress that the meeting was aimed to update participants with the current position and situation of the initiative with a view to reduce maternal mortality rate across the country.
He therefore commended the state ministry of health for effective coordination of the CEmONC urging for thorough study before dissemination of the report for effective service delivery.


In his remark, the state Commissioner of Health and Social Welfare Dr Sani Mohammed Dambam lamented the high rate of maternal mortality globally, calling for effective collaboration to reduce the burden.
Sani Danbam added that the need to significantly improve the issue of maternal health and mortality rate cannot be over-emphasized considering its role in family health.
He therefore pledges the commitment of the ministry towards collaboration with development partners in an effort to reduce maternal mortality and ensure effective service delivery.
Also speaking, representative of JHPIEGO, Jennifer Don-Ake expressed gratitude to the State Government for the partnership with the organization with the aim of reducing maternal mortality in the state.
She assured that JHPIEGO will continue to support the State in improving family and children health as it will be part of the report dissemination during the meeting and subsequent sessions.
