The Taraba state chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria SWAN on Monday, 30th December 2024 honoured one of the veterans, Abubakar Sadiq Moyoyo, who pulled out of civil service recently.
Moyoyo worked at the Taraba State Broadcasting Service (TSBS), Jalingo.
Speaking at the occasion, the SWAN chairman, Sani Sulaiman, described Abubakar Sadiq Moyoyo as a veritable tool, particularly in the area of sports writing in Nigeria.
Sulaiman recalled the immense contributions of Sadiq Moyoyo, including the entrenchment of a formidable SWAN in Taraba state and the provision of exceptional leadership at the national level as Deputy President, amongst others, and prayed to God to reward him.
He said SWAN Taraba would continue to celebrate the pioneer chairman and, indeed, all the veterans in the state to ginger the upcoming ones to put in their best.
Friends and well-wishers who graced the occasion including the Director of Administration of the state Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, took turns to shower encomium on the celebrant.
They urged Moyoyo to continue to mentor the upcoming sports writers in the state and advised members of the association to remain united, encouraging the leadership to maintain the tempo.
Responding, Abubakar Sadiq Moyoyo (Dallatun Bantaje) thanked SWAN Taraba for organizing such a befitting get-together in his honour.
He said SWAN has every reason to honour him because of his passion for sports writing, noting that he has reached the peak of his career.
According to Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Moyoyo, he has been a sports journalist for over three decades, contending that he will remain a journalist till the end of his life.
Additionally, Moyoyo praised the current National leadership under President Mr Isiah Benjamin for their commitment to take the association to greater heights.
He commended the chairman Sani sulaiman and his team for all the successes recorded within the shortest period of their leadership and called on members to support them to succeed.
