SWAN Inaugurates Planning And Finance Committee For Diamond Jubilee Celebration

As preparations ramp up for the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Diamond Jubilee Celebration next year, the association has officially inaugurated its Planning and Finance Committee.

This committee will lead the financial planning and mobilization efforts for this historic event.

A press release signed by Samuel Ahmadu, Secretary of the Planning and Finance Committee for SWAN’s 60th celebration, details the formation of this committee.

Chaired by Ogun State SWAN Chairman Mr. Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji, with the FCT SWAN Secretary serving as the Secretary, the committee is composed of individuals known for their integrity and expertise. 

The carefully selected members include Mr. Leonard Oru (FCT), Mr. Eche Amos (Nasarawa), Princess Ekwi Ajide (FCT), Mr. Suleiman Adebayo-Pooja (Lagos), Mr. Tobi Adepoju (Lagos), Mr. Ndubueze Chidoka (FCT), Mr. Cyril Dum Wite (Rivers), and Mr. Cosmos Chukwuemeka (Imo), 

Others are Mr. Joel Duku, Alhaji Idris Malikawa (Kano), Mr. Sam Adesoji (Plateau), Mr. Kuti Dare (Kwara), Mr. Thomas Abirhire (Delta), and Mr. Femi Amusan (Oyo).

During the virtual inauguration held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, SWAN President Isaiah Benjamin praised the members for their willingness to serve in this esteemed association. He stated.

“We have assembled individuals of trusted integrity and proven capability to fulfill this role. The selection process took time because we recognized the importance of their abilities. Thank you for accepting this significant responsibility.

“I wish you all fruitful discussions and commendable execution of this task. This is a first of its kind, and we trust in your commitment to make it a memorable milestone in SWAN’s history.”

SWAN Secretary General Ambassador Ikenna Okonkwo echoed the president’s sentiments, saying, “This committee represents the backbone of our Diamond Jubilee Celebration. We believe they will exceed expectations and set a new standard for excellence in SWAN events.”

Mr. Ogunsiji, the Chairman of the Planning and Finance Committee, expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in them, stating, “This is a significant responsibility, and we are committed to organizing an event that reflects the legacy and growth of SWAN.”

The Planning and Finance Committee is expected to play a crucial role in ensuring the success of the Diamond Jubilee Celebration, commemorating 60 years of SWAN’s impactful contributions to sports journalism in Nigeria.
