The former National Deputy President of SWAN, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Moyoyo has called on the current national executive under the leadership of Mr. Isaiah Benjamin to remain committed to their policies and programs.
He made the call during the 2024 full council meeting of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) held recently in Kano State,
Sadiq Moyoyo, who is also the Dallatu of Bantaje Chiefdom in Taraba State, urged President Benjamin to urgently restore the association’s past glory and good name in Nigeria and abroad.
He warned the leadership to avoid any acts that could cause division within the association.
He admitted that the offenses committed by the past leadership would have caused serious division within the Exco and should have led to the impeachment of the then President, Mr. Honour Sirawoo.
He praised the patience and tolerance of the past Exco members in managing the issue until the last day.
Furthermore, he criticized the reasons advanced by the SWANECO as a basis to disqualify contestants for various positions during the last delegates Congress as flimsy and acts of persecution.
Additionally, he called on the current Exco led by President Isaiah Benjamin to investigate and punish any member found wanting, regardless of their status.
Moyoyo commended the mature manner in which President Isaiah Benjamin manages the issues concerning the association and urged members across Nigeria to give him maximum support to enable him to excel.
However, during an interview with journalists, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Moyoyo, the former Deputy President of SWAN, expressed his appreciation for the commitment of Governor Agbu Kefas Ph.D in restoring sporting activities and uplifting the youth across Taraba State.
Moyoyo described the Governor as a sports enthusiast who has been investing in sports and the youth even before he became a Governor.
He further commended the governor for sponsoring a unity football championship comprising all the local governments in southern Taraba known as the “KEFAS CUP” saying that it would further solidify the existing rapport amongst them.
He commended the Taraba State Commissioner of Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Joseph Joshua, and called for synergy between the ministry, and SWAN in Taraba State, as well as appealed to the people of the State to continue praying for Dr. Agbu Kefas’s administration to enable his Moving Forward Agenda to be achieved.
The Dallatun Bantaje praised the Kano chapter of SWAN, under the chairmanship of Zahraddeen Saleh, for hosting the 34 states that honoured the Full Council meeting and prayed to God to reward them.
