During his Friday sermon, Imam Murtala Kunini, the Chief Imam of JIBWIS Juma’at Mosque Mayo-Gwai East Jalingo, Taraba State, stressed the importance of raising children appropriately.
He specifically cautioned against the use of illicit substances and reminded parents of their accountability for their children’s upbringing on the day of judgment.
In light of these considerations, Kunini said parents need to prioritize the training of their children ethically and morally.
The Chief Imam has expressed concern over the high incidence of drug abuse among the youth, particularly in Jalingo.
He has called on communities to take action to combat this menace.
Additionally, he has advised parents to closely monitor their children’s activities and associations.
The Imam has also called upon the Muslim Ummah to return to Allah, intensify their prayers, and abstain from all forms of sin.
Imam Murtala Kunini attributes the current hardship and insecurity in the country to the high level of sin being committed by people.
As such, he urges individuals to repent and seek forgiveness as a means of addressing these issues.
“If you cannot stop whatever form of sin you are committing, try and minimize it by forty (40) or sixty (60%) percent, so that Allah will be pleased and intervene in the present situation we found ourselves. Remember, the younger generation are the ones who will be the leaders of tomorrow, and if they are not God fairing and responsible, society is in danger,” Imam Kunini lamented.
The Imam’s call for repentance is timely, as it resonates with the current challenges facing the nation.
