The people of Kpasham community in Demsa Local Government Area were filled with joy as a newly reconstructed block of three classrooms and a principal’s office at Government Day Secondary School (GDSS) Kpasham was officially commissioned.

The project, funded by the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) and facilitated by Senator (Rev) Binos Dauda Yaroe, reflects the dividends of democracy and effective representation.

The commissioning event, held on Thursday, showcased Senator Binos Yaroe’s commitment to development-driven representation in Adamawa South Senatorial District.

In his remarks, the Senator credited the initiative to the NDIC’s corporate social responsibility, made possible through the support of Senator Mukhail Adetokumbo Abiru, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions, who allowed him to nominate the project location.

“In collaboration with Mr. Francis Ngalayo Ndatuwong, we chose this school to address a pressing need,” Senator Binos explained. “Education is the foundation of any nation’s progress, and creating a conducive learning environment is crucial.”

He extended gratitude to the NDIC Managing Director/CEO, Mr. Bello Hassan, for supporting the project, emphasizing its significance in enhancing the educational experience of students in the area.

Mr. Hassan, represented by NDIC Yola Zonal Officer Mr. Ismail Mahmud, reiterated the agency’s belief in education as a key to national development. He urged the school and the community to safeguard the new facilities for future generations.

Also speaking, Hon. P.M. Macondo, representing Numan Constituency at the Adamawa State House of Assembly, praised Senator Binos for identifying and addressing educational needs in Kpasham. He described Binos as a senior colleague and mentor in legislative service.

Mr. Birsan Penuel, Executive Secretary of the Post Primary Schools Management Board (PPSMB), commended the gesture, calling for responsible use and protection of the facilities by school staff and the community. He also appreciated Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s support for the education sector.

Principal of GDSS Kpasham, Mr. Homotufe Gilbert Bware, recounted the damage the school suffered in 2003 due to a severe windstorm, and expressed joy that the facility had finally been rebuilt.

He highlighted the fully furnished classrooms and office, which include desks, chairs, whiteboards, and other learning materials, as vital to academic improvement.

In his vote of thanks, Baba David, Chairman of the Kpasham Elders Council, expressed the community’s appreciation for the Senator’s continuous support, pledging to maintain the facility for the benefit of their children.

Hon. Francis Ngalayo Ndatuwong, a Senior Legislative Aide to Senator Binos and a community member, noted that this project is one of several facilitated by the Senator in Kpasham. Others include the renovation of the community clinic, provision of medical equipment, and installation of industrial boreholes.

The event featured traditional dances, the official commissioning of the school facilities, and a symbolic feather-honour presented to Senator Binos Yaroe by the Kpasham community.
