Chairman of the Senate Committee on Innovation, Science and Technology, Senator Aminu Iya Abbas, who represents Adamawa Central Senatorial District, has donated food items worth millions of naira to victims of natural disasters and insurgency in Hong Local Government Area.
The relief materials were handed over at the palace of the Tol Huba for onward distribution to the affected communities. Represented by a high-powered delegation led by Hon. Job Gundiri, Senator Abbas emphasized that the items would reach all targeted areas within the LGA.
He further disclosed that he had reached out to relevant stakeholders and agencies, urging them to come to the aid of victims across Adamawa Central and the state at large. While commiserating with those affected, the senator prayed for the repose of the souls lost during the tragic events and expressed hope that authorities would take necessary steps to support the victims’ rehabilitation.
In his response, His Royal Highness Tol Alheri Bulus Nyako, the Tol Huba, thanked Senator Abbas for his consistent support to his constituents. He assured that the relief materials would be fairly and transparently distributed to ease the suffering of affected families.
It will be recalled that Senator Abbas recently moved motions on the floor of the Senate concerning the rising cases of insurgency and natural disasters in Adamawa State. His motion led to the unanimous adoption of a resolution calling for urgent and comprehensive interventions.
The donated relief items include 300 bags of rice, 300 bags of maize, 300 cartons of spaghetti, 30 cartons of Maggi seasoning, 30 bags of salt, and 30 cartons of packaged tomatoes.
