The Senator representing Adamawa Central Senatorial District, Aminu Iya Abbas, has donated ₦10 million, alongside bags of rice, maize, mats, blankets, and other relief materials to victims of the recent flood disaster in Yola South Local Government Area.

The senator, who personally toured the affected communities, made the donation on Wednesday. He sympathized with the victims and offered prayers for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives in the flood.

While addressing victims at various locations, Senator Abbas reaffirmed his commitment to supporting them and alleviating their suffering.

He commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the North East Development Commission (NEDC), the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), the Red Cross, and other relevant agencies for their swift response and assistance to the victims.

Senator Abbas noted that the scale of devastation was significant across the affected areas. He pledged to raise the matter again on the floor of the Senate, seeking collaborative efforts from all tiers of government to implement measures that will protect lives and property.

Receiving the items at Aliyu Mustafa College, Yola, the Permanent Secretary of ADSEMA, Mrs. Celine Laori, expressed appreciation to the senator for his timely intervention and promised judicious distribution of the relief materials.

Some of the victims, while speaking during the visit, expressed gratitude for the gesture, describing Senator Iya Abbas as a true representative who prioritizes the welfare of his constituents above personal interest.
