The National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam, has addressed recent misinformation circulating on social media involving old pictures of political engagements at the party’s secretariat.

He clarified that the images in question were from visits by prominent figures during the election of National Assembly leaders.

The visits included dignitaries such as Senator Godswill Akpabio, Senator Barau Jibrin, and Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, who now serve as Senate President, Deputy Senate President, and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, respectively.

These engagements were part of the democratic process where stakeholders across party lines sought alliances and support.

Alhaji Gabam expressed concern over the potential manipulation of these images for propaganda purposes.

He emphasized the need for responsible interpretation and urged Nigerians to avoid being misled by distorted narratives.

“The SDP remains committed to its core values and principles, which prioritize the welfare and development of Nigerians,” he stated.

He highlighted that since its formation in 1989, the party has consistently advocated for social democracy and social justice.

Addressing the spread of misinformation, Alhaji Gabam called on the public to approach such content critically and verify facts before drawing conclusions.

He noted that responsible discourse is essential for fostering an informed society.

The National Chairman further urged the ruling APC to focus on delivering on its mandate rather than being distracted by non-essential issues.

He stressed the importance of prioritizing pressing national concerns, such as security, economic development, and education.

“The SDP remains unwavering in its commitment to providing a credible alternative for Nigerians, guided by principles of social democracy and social justice,” Alhaji Gabam affirmed.

He reiterated the party’s resolve to challenge the status quo where necessary and contribute positively to Nigeria’s political landscape, ensuring that the SDP remains a beacon of hope for the nation’s future.
