The National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Shehu Musa Gabam, has raised concerns over what he described as a recurring imbalance in Nigeria’s leadership representation.
Gabam in an interview with newsmen, criticized former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration for allegedly weakening the country’s democratic foundations by favoring a disproportionate number of Northerners in his cabinet appointments.
He further expressed disappointment that the same pattern is being repeated under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, which, according to him, has continued to widen the division among Nigerians.
“This imbalance in representation not only undermines the principles of democracy but also fosters disunity and distrust among citizens. It’s time we address these critical issues and prioritize fairness, equity, and inclusivity for the progress of our nation,” Gabam stated.
The SDP Chairman called for urgent reforms to ensure fairness and inclusivity in governance, emphasizing that such steps are crucial for strengthening national unity and fostering trust among citizens.
