Residents Pour Encomiums On Gov Fintiri As Abandoned 40km Pella-Maiha Road Commissioned

In continuation of the five-year in office anniversary celebration of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, the long awaited 40 kilometres Pella-Maiha road was commissioned amidst jubilation from residents of the benefiting communities.

The road project which was awarded during the tenure of Governor Murtala Nyako, has gone series of variations from the previous administrations before it was later revoked and completed by the present administration of Governor Umaru Fintiri, seventeen years after.

Performing the ceremony at the event held at Pella, an elder statesman who hails from Hong LGA, General Haladu Hanania retired, appreciated the commitment of Governor Umaru Fintiri in the development of the state.

He salutes the Governor’s intervention across Local government areas of the state and Hong in particular and prayed to God to grant him good health and wisdom to achieve more for the state as his tenure lasted.

Notable personalities from the benefiting communities, including Senator representing Adamawa North, Amos Yohanna, the Speaker Adamawa State House of Assembly, Bathiya Weasley among others appreciate Governor Fintiri for coming to the aid of the two local government areas after series of failed attempt to complete the project by previous administrations.

They lamented that the condition of the road before now was worsened as a result of Boko Haram insurgents attack in their communities, saying the completion of the project has brought relief to the affected communities.

They pledged support to the Governor Fintiri administration to achieve more for their communities and the state in general.

In his speech, Governor Fintiri reveals that the road linking Hong and Maiha local government areas is perhaps the longest single project executed and commissioned by his administration in the state.

According to Fintiri, the significance of the project cannot be overemphasized as among which include, sustaining access to farming, schools, market and other socio economic opportunities that will address poverty and improve livelihoods.

While at Maiha to performed the symbolic commissioning of the project, Fintiri appreciated the people for their support and promised to construct road network in the local government area and provide them with more dividends of Democracy.

Earlier, the State Commissioner of Works and Energy Development, Alhaji Adamu Atiku Abubakar, revealed that the project was awarded in 2007 to AG Vision, but was later revoked due to non performance and incompetence of the company.

He appreciated the Governor for revocking the project and reawarded it to a more competent contractor who delivered the project within 7 months period ahead of the 12 months timeframe.
