Ramadan: Bauchi Gov Inaugurates Palliative Distribution Committee

Ahead of the forthcoming Ramadan fasting, Gov. Bala Mohammad of Bauchi state has inaugurated the 2025 Ramadan Palliative Distribution Committee.

This is contained in a statement issued by Ms Adama Ibrahim, the Information Officer, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management.

According to her, the governor has appointed the state Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hajiya Hajara Wanka, as the Chairman of the committee.

Ibrahim explained that the governor, while inaugurating the committee, said that the Ramadan Palliative Distribution Initiative in the state has become a moral obligation to support families and citizens during the holy month, especially looking at the current economic situation across the country.

“The governor reminded the Committee to be just, fair and have the fear of Allah in their hearts while discharging the trust given to them.

“Responding on behalf of the members of the committee, the Commissioner expressed gratitude to the governor and assured him of fairness and equity in the distribution exercise.

“The commissioner vowed not to take the appointment for granted and promised to justify the confidence reposed in them,” said the Information Officer.

Membership of the committee comprises some commissioners, heads of state agencies and departments, religious,community groups, security operatives and some other key stakeholders.

Recall that since the establishment of the ministry in 2023, it has been saddled with the responsibility of all humanitarian distribution exercises in the State.

Some of the items expected to be distributed to the masses especially the indigents to ease the Ramadan fast includes; rice, beans, guinea corn, maize, sugar, millet, among many others.
