Protest: Governor Mohammed Urges Protesters To Understand Government

Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state has called on Nigerians planning to embark on the proposed protest to understand the government.

Mohammed made the call in Bauchi on Wednesday shortly before the commencement of the State Executive Council (SEC)’s meeting.

The governor, who acknowledged that there is hardship in the country, also called on the protesters to shelve the planned protest and sit with the government for discussion on the way forward.

“I want to urge them to please understand the government, shelve their protest and come to us for discussion.

“Most of the things they said are true because there is a lot of hunger and anger and we must be able to provide good governance, provide direction and to reduce the cost of living,” he said.

The governor also called on his cabinet to think out of the box and create jobs for the unlettered who are domiciled in the villages across the state.

“We have to provide jobs for those people that are not educated and there are many in our villages.

“This is our challenge and we have to use knowledge to change our social economic Sector. Our GDP must improve to create economic activities around agriculture and SMEs.

“I want to plead with you that we must do something to reduce the cost of governance.

“Our travels, especially some of us that are always trying to travel abroad or to Abuja, are costing us a lot of money especially now,” said Mohammed.
