The Member representing Jos North Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Adamu Aliyu, has denied reports of his alleged arrest over a N73.6 million Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) contract scam.

It would be recalled that a Federal High Court in Abuja had declared Aliyu wanted in connection with the alleged fraudulent contract.

Dr. Hassan Ibrahim , a close political associate of the lawmaker, dismissed the allegations at a press conference on Tuesday

He dismissed the reports, stressing that Aliyu was never arrested and remains accessible to his constituents, family, and well-wishers.

Hassan described the allegations as the handiwork of political opponents unhappy with Aliyu’s performance and achievements during his two years in office.

He said the lawmaker has built a reputation for philanthropy and service to the people and would not engage in fraudulent activities.

“The reports of his arrest are false and misleading. Hon. Aliyu has been in his house, attending to people and carrying out his duties. This is purely a political move to tarnish his image,” Ibrahim stated.

“Aliyu clarified that the matter in question was a civil dispute over consultancy services and not a criminal case. He denied forging any contract documents, explaining that his involvement was limited to delivering a contract award letter.

He further revealed that his lawyers had written to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), informing them that the case was already before a civil court.

Aliyu urged his supporters and constituents to remain calm, assuring them that he would continue to serve with integrity and work diligently to clear his name amid the ongoing controversy.. This is purely a political move to tarnish his image,” Ibrahim stated.
