The Patriots for the Advancement of Peace and Social Development (PAPSD) has congratulated General Christopher Musa on his appointment and confirmation as Minister of Defence, describing him as the “right man for the job.”
In a press statement, the Executive Director of the group, Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he called a strategic choice that reflects the administration’s determination to defeat terrorism and armed banditry across the country.
Shinkafi, however, urged the President to immediately sack the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, alleging that he lacks the required experience to handle complex security matters and accusing him of having “sympathies for bandits.”

He further called for the scrapping of the office of Minister of State for Defence, describing it as unnecessary and an “aberration” within military command structure.
The group expressed confidence in the Nigerian Armed Forces, saying they are capable of defending the nation’s sovereignty if adequately funded, equipped, and motivated.
Reiterating its support for General Musa, PAPSD said his appointment is a testament to his “patriotism, professionalism, and integrity,” adding that only an individual with a solid military background can effectively coordinate the armed forces and address the nation’s numerous security challenges.

Shinkafi also criticized the previous appointment of Mohammed Badaru Abubakar and Bello Matawalle as Ministers of Defence under the old structure, insisting that they lacked the expertise required for such sensitive positions.
Highlighting ongoing security threats—including terrorism, insurgency, banditry, militancy, secessionist agitation, and kidnapping for ransom—the group urged Nigerians to support President Tinubu and General Musa in efforts geared toward strengthening national security, unity, and prosperity.
