In a bold move to revive and strengthen Agricultural Education in public schools, the Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board (ADSUBEB) has officially commenced the distribution of agricultural tools and inputs to more than 200 public schools across the state’s 21 Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs).

The initiative, flagged off by the Executive Chairman of ADSUBEB Dr Murtala Umar Babayi, is part of the Agricultural Education Training Program (AETP) and is being implemented under the UBEC/ADSUBEB 2022, 2023, and 2024 intervention cycles.

The program is designed to promote practical, skill-based learning in schools, enhance food security, and stimulate local economic growth through hands-on agricultural education.

“This is not just about distributing tools,” the Chairman remarked. “It’s about sowing the seeds of knowledge and empowering future generations through practical agricultural experience.”

He expressed deep appreciation to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to basic and vocational education development in the state.

The Chairman also acknowledged the critical support of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and the dedication of ADSUBEB staff in making the program a reality.

The initiative encourages schools to integrate these materials into classroom learning and expose pupils to real-world agricultural practices. “Let this be a stepping stone toward raising a generation of agriculturally skilled, self-reliant leaders,” the Chairman added. “Together, we can cultivate a future rooted in productivity and sustainability.”

Also speaking at the event, Secretary to the Board, Mrs. Korah Bongi, lauded the program as timely and impactful. “Practical agricultural learning will not only improve food awareness but equip our pupils with real-life survival skills,” she said. “I urge school heads to implement this program meaningfully and ensure active student involvement.”

With this large-scale distribution now underway, ADSUBEB is redefining agricultural education and laying a strong foundation for future self-sufficiency and innovation among young learners in Adamawa State.
