Maj. Gen. Frank Etim, outgoing brigade commander, 6 Brigade Jalingo on Wednesday urged soldiers in the brigade to stop at nothing to end banditry in Taraba State.
Etim gave the charge at his handing-over ceremony to Brig. Gen. Kingsley Uwa, the new brigade commander in Jalingo.
He urged the soldiers to continue in the resilience to fight till the monster bedeviling the state was conquered.
He thanked them for their cooperation in ensuring Taraba was better than when they came.
” I want to thank you for your cooperation and support in fighting against banditry, kidnapping, and other forms of criminality in the state during my tenure.
“I also wish to thank the Taraba State Government and the people of the state for their support that enabled us to succeed in our operations.
” We do most of our things in good conscience and professionally.
“Today, my one year and six months stay has come to an end and I am handing over to you another good infantry officer, a member of our crocodile family.
” I expect you to give him every support so that he can consolidate on our gains and even do more.
“My stay in Taraba had been very eventful, we came at a time when the state was bedeviled with the crisis but with the support of the government and the indigenes we had been able to surmount the security challenges in the state,” he said.
Responding, Gen. Kingsley Uwa assured that he would sustain the legacies of the former commander.
He gave assurances that troops under his watch would not relent on their oars until all criminal elements within the state had been flushed out from their enclaves and forced to embrace peace.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Gen. Uwa has been redeployed from Operation Hadarin Daji North-West Nigeria.
