Nutrition International Donates Items To Bauchi State

The Bauchi state ministry of Health pledges its commitment to work with various international organizations toward improving the nutritional status and transforming the lives of women, adolescent girls and children in the state.

The Commissioner of Health, Dr Sani Mohammed Dambam disclosed this while receiving donations of Air Conditioning and Trolleys from Nutrition International NI aimed to support storage system, the event which took at the Central store in Bauchi.

Dr Sani Dambam revealed that the state government is determined to ensure effective healthcare system by allocating 15 percent of the total budget to the health sector, calling on various stakeholders to support the effort of the government toward achieving the desire goal.

He therefore commended the Nutritional International a Canada-based organization for its support to the state towards providing essential Vitamins and minerals women and children they need to thrive.

In her address, the state Coordinator Nutrition International Asabe Emmanuel Lekwot said after assessing the state central store and the Azare zonal warehouse in August and November 2024, the ( NI ) deems it necessary to identify key areas for improvement to enhance the functionality of the storage infrastructure.

Asabe Emmanuel Lekwot added that the Nutritional International in 2022 has lunch a formative research and human centered design project which is the Multiple Micronutrients Supplement MMS funded by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, National Primary Health Care Development Agency and the Bauchi State Government aim to gather support as part of Material health services.

She added that as part of the project, Nutritional International has donated 90,000 bottles of Multiple Micronutrient Supplement to Bauchi State which are warehoused by Bauchi State Drug and Medical Consumable Management Agency DMMA to continue the success of the project which is already been implemented across 84 health facilities in Dass, Grade and Ganjuwa Local governments.

Items donated include Four standing air conditioners, Two wall mountable air conditioners and two trolleys.
