Northern Govs Vow To Tackle Insecurity, Poverty In The Region

The meeting of the Nineteen Northern Governor’s of Nigeria has ended in Kaduna with a resolution to tackling security challenges and poverty in the region.


Rising from the one day meeting on Thursday February 25th, the Northern Governor’s Forum agreed to work in partnership with Governor’s of other regions, the Traditional institution, religious and community leaders towards overcoming challenges that threaten the peace and development of the country.


The Governor’s regretted the unfortunate loss of lives and property as a result of cycle of conflicts and crisis bedeviling the nation.


The communique presented by the Chairman of the Forum and Plateau State Governor, Rt.Hon Simon Bako Lalong also agreed to work in synergy with relevant security agencies to secure their borders against incursion by miscreants as well as ensure the safety of schools across the region following new developments of abductions by terror groups.


The meeting also resolved to invest in agriculture and mining which is part of its economic sustainability plan.


The Governor’s also discussed the inclusion of rural dwellers in the development process through the provision of social amenities.


Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, Governor’s Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto, Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano, Abdullahi Sule of Nassarwa and the Deputy Governor of Kaduna State Dr Hadiza Balarabe supported the forum’s Chairman at the communique session.
