The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has dismissed a video clip that shows what is claimed to be adulterated fuel sold in bottles and jerrycans.
This was released in a statement by Olufemi O. Soneye, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd, on November 7, 2024.
The NNPC Ltd has addressed a video that features an individual pouring a dark liquid, claiming it to be Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) purportedly purchased from an NNPC retail outlet at Keffi Flyover.
In the statement, NNPC Ltd confirmed that they conducted spot checks at all their outlets and found the claims in the video to be false.
The company emphasized that the product in question was not and could not have been purchased from any NNPC retail outlet, as NNPC does not dispense petroleum products into bottles or jerrycans, as depicted in the video.
NNPC Retail Ltd strictly adheres to rigorous standards and quality control measures at every stage of its operations to ensure that only high-quality, safe, and reliable petroleum products are available at its stations nationwide.
The public is urged to disregard the unfounded claims made in the video and to be cautious of individuals spreading such narratives, as they do not have the country’s best interests at heart.
NNPC takes pride in maintaining accurate pump integrity and conducting regular inspections and calibrations to ensure consistency across its stations nationwide.
