The announcement was made by the President of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), Mustapha Berraf, during an Extraordinary session of the Executive Committee in Annaba, Algeria.

The statement said the decision was formally communicated to the President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), Engr Habu Ahmed Gumel.

Berraf described the award as a historic recognition of Nigeria’s capacity to deliver a successful continental sporting event.

He cited Nigeria’s proven hospitality, organisational strength, and commitment as the key factors behind ANOCA’s choice.

The Games are expected to uphold their values and build on the success of the inaugural edition.

Mustapha Berraf assured that ANOCA will provide technical support and guidance throughout Nigeria’s preparations to ensure the 2027 Games meet the highest standards.
