Three prominent non-governmental organizations have paid a courtesy visit to the Adamawa State office of the North-East Development Commission (NEDC), seeking partnership and collaboration to amplify developmental impact across the state.

The delegation, comprising representatives of the Debbie Kauna Foundation, the Initiative for Youth Community Development, and the Adamawa People with Disability and Vulnerable Support Initiative, was received by the Adamawa State Coordinator of the NEDC, Barrister Khalifa M. Lawan, who reaffirmed the Commission’s readiness to work closely with credible development partners.

Speaking during the visit, the Program Manager of the Debbie Kauna Foundation, Ms. Sarah M. Sarki; the Chairman of the Initiative for Youth Community Development, Mr. Zira Ali; and the Project Manager of the Adamawa People with Disability and Vulnerable Support Initiative, Ms. Deborah Adesanya, said their mission was to strengthen collaboration, promote inclusivity, and ensure efficient service delivery at the grassroots level.

The representatives commended the NEDC for its impactful interventions in rebuilding the North-East, stressing the importance of coordination between the Commission and civil society organizations to avoid duplication of efforts and enhance developmental outcomes.

They noted that a formal partnership with the NEDC would leverage the Commission’s institutional support and the NGOs’ community reach to drive sustainable initiatives, particularly in youth empowerment, disability inclusion, and humanitarian response.

In his response, Barr. Khalifa M. Lawan appreciated the organizations for their visit and recognized the vital role NGOs play in mobilizing communities and complementing government efforts.

“The NEDC cannot work in isolation. The work you do in the communities is vital, and we are open to partnering with serious and focused organizations like yours to ensure that development reaches the people who need it most,” Lawan said.

He assured the delegation of the Commission’s readiness to explore areas of mutual interest and establish a framework for continuous collaboration, noting that such partnerships are essential to achieving inclusive and sustainable development in Adamawa and the wider North-East region.
