As part of his ongoing assessment tour, Barr. Khalifa M. Lawan, the newly appointed Coordinator of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), embarked on an inspection of projects across Song, Maiha, Hong, and Mubi Local Government Areas of Adamawa State.
The inspection, aimed at project supervision and needs assessment, focused on key infrastructure such as roads, bridges, schools, and renewable energy solutions across the state.
In Maiha, Barr. Lawan was warmly received by the Emir of Maiha, Alhaji Ahmadu Saibaru, and the Executive Chairman of Maiha LGA, Hon. Abubakar Mustapha. During a courtesy visit to the Emir’s palace, the monarch and the Council Chairman commended the NEDC for its impactful developmental strides across the state.

A key highlight of the visit was the symbolic handover of site for installation of solar lights to the Executive Chairman of Maiha LGA, reinforcing the Commission’s commitment to enhancing safety and improving living standards through sustainable energy initiatives.
The Coordinator also inspected critical infrastructure in Maiha, including the Maiha Gari Bridge and the Buladiga Bridge along the Maiha-Mubi axis, to assess their current conditions and identify areas requiring intervention.
In Hong, Lawan assessed several completed and ongoing projects, such as the 2.5 km internal road at the College of Education and the upgraded Wuba Primary Health Care quarters. He also inspected installations of solar-powered boreholes and streetlights.

In Song, the Coordinator visited the site of a newly established mega school, while in Mubi, he assessed mass housing developments, water supply projects at the Federal Polytechnic, and construction works at Adamawa State University.
Reaffirming the NEDC’s dedication to inclusive development, Barr. Lawan stated that the Commission is committed to addressing the pressing needs of the North East through targeted infrastructure that supports education, healthcare, and community growth.

The tour is part of a broader strategy to strengthen collaboration with local authorities and ensure that NEDC interventions are tailored to the specific developmental priorities of communities across Adamawa State.
