The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, has recorded a significant milestone in the ongoing airlift of pilgrims for the 2025 Hajj exercise.
In just the first three days of operations, the Commission successfully transported 19 percent of the total intending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia, a major leap compared to the 9 percent achieved within the same period last year.
According to a statement from the Commission’s Assistant Director of Information and Publications, Fatima Sanda Usara, several states have already completed or nearly completed their airlifts.
Air Peace flew 559 pilgrims from Kogi State, while Max Air successfully airlifted 1,083 pilgrims from Oyo State.
Pilgrims from Imo and Abia States have also departed, with plans in place to accommodate those who missed initial flights.
UMZA Air is currently concluding the airlift of 944 pilgrims from Nasarawa State, and is set to begin flights for Kaduna State on the 14th of May.
FlyNas will commence airlifting pilgrims from Sokoto State on the 13th of May, followed by Abuja on the 16th, and Borno State on the 18th, with Air Peace handling that leg.
NAHCON Chairman, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, commended the synergy between airlines, state pilgrims’ boards, and other stakeholders for the smooth progress recorded so far.
