The National Automotive Design And Development Council,(NADDC) has held a two weeks intensive modernized training on heavy duty vehicles including Agric-tractors for fifty (50) auto technicians and youth in Adamawa state.

Director General and Chief Executive Officer of Council, Oluwemima Joseph Osanipin at the closing ceremony in Yola Friday said that the program is specially designed to equip auto-technicians with advanced skills in repair and maintenance of modern vehicles which are more electronic than mechanical these days due to technology advancement.

Osanipin stated that, the Skyrock Consulting Limited was engaged to conduct the two weeks intensive training which commenced on Monday 3rd February,2025 across three (3) centres across the country including Yola ,Kaduna and Abuja.

Osanipin noted that similar Programme code-named NADDC specialized mechatronics training also commenced at the time and took place in Calabar, Akure and Umudike stressing that, this initiative, driven by the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) aims to continuously bridge the skills gap and upgrade technical knowledge of auto-technicians, thereby creating job opportunities for many in the country.

He highlighted that, the Council in collaboration with relevant stakeholders has so far trained over 20,000 technicians through the Light and Heavy-Duty Vehicles Mechatronics Programmes. Currently, the Council has established 21 Automotive Training Centres (ATCs) across the six (6) geo-political zones with the purpose of fostering continuous skill development.

According to him, 16 of these Centres have been equipped with state- of-the-art equipment/tools in line with global trends. These efforts align with the mandates of one of the pillars of the Nigerian Automotive Industry Development Plan (NAIDP) which aims to strengthen skills development and support industrial growth.

“The automotive industry is a critical component of any nation’s economy, and Nigeria is no exception. By investing in specialized training programs like this, we are laying a solid foundation for a vibrant and sustainable automotive industry that will drive economic growth, create jobs, and enhance our national competitiveness.

“NADDC is committed to supporting the development of a thriving automotive industry in Nigeria. We believe that this industry has the potential to contribute significantly to our nation’s economic growth and development, and we are working tirelessly to create an enabling environment that will support its growth.

“Through initiatives like this specialized training program, we are providing the necessary skills and knowledge to our youths, equipping them with the expertise required to compete in the global automotive industry.

“We are also supporting the development of local content, promoting entrepreneurship, and encouraging
innovation in the industry, as l express my deepest gratitude to our training consultants Messrs. Skyrock Consulting Limited for their tireless efforts over the past 2-weeks to ensure the success of this training programme.

In his remarks, the Managing Director of Skyrock Consulting Limited Abuja, Olayinka Akinola expressed gratitude to the NADDC, the Adamawa state govt.and other stakeholders for the support and corporation rendered to the firm during the training.

Akinola charged the trainees to use the advanced knowledge impacted on them in addressing the rising automotive challenges with modern technological innovations noting that the world is fast changing in digital spheres.

Responding on behalf of the trainees, Abdulsalam Nagari and Jamilu Babatete applauded the intervention given to them in their choosed carrier saying they apply the knowledge given to them during the training.

They also pledged to use the starter packs provided for them to upgrade their ways of doing things.
