The Bauchi State primary health care development agency BSPHCDA has express it determination towards supporting federal government policies and programs aim at improving the healthcare system of pregnant woman toward reducing maternal mortality.
The Executive Chairman Bauchi State Primary Health Care development agency Dr Rilwanu Sulaiman stated this when he led delegation form the the Federal ministry of health on a courtesy visit to the Emir of Dass and some selected health facilities in the Local Government.
Dr Rilwasu Muhammad said they were in Dass to see how the implementation research of Multiple Micronutrient Supplement MMS is been conducted and also to monitor the how the health workers adhere to the protocols.
He said Dass is among the three selected local government in the state to trial of the supplement which according to him Multiple Micronutrient Supplement MMS is better than Iron and folic acid supplement IFAS, because MMS contains 15 essential vitamins and minerals, including iron and folic acid in recommended dose.
Rilwanu Muhammad added that the MMS Supplement is effective thereby reducing the risk of preterm birth, stillbirth, low birth weight, and small for gestational age birth among others.
He therefore pledges for more support from various stakeholders in the health sector toward achieving the desire goal aimed at reducing maternal mortality and improving health care service delivery.
In this remark, the leader of the delegation who is also a director in the federal ministry of health Mr John Wruakpa said they were in Bauchi state to see the level of commitment toward the implementation research of Multiple Micronutrient Supplement MMS in some selected primary healthcare centers.
Mr John Wruakpa therefore call for more support from the Bauchi state government and the Emir of Dass towards ensuring that the exercise is been conducted.
Receiving the delegation, the Emir of Dass Alh Usman Bilyaminu Othman who was representative by the Madakin Dass, Alh Dauda Ibrahim Madaki said the Emirate council is working hand in hand with local government to ensure that people have access to quality health care service.
The delegation later visited two health facilities in Dass local government where they express their optimism over the level of compliance from both the pregnant woman and the healthcare workers on the implementation research of the Multiple Micronutrient Supplement MMS.
