A new Ultra-Modern Institute of Entrepreneurship has been commissioned at Taraba State University, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria’s North-East region’s education and youth empowerment drive.
The facility, provided by the North East Development Commission (NEDC), aims to equip students with practical skills alongside academic knowledge, making them globally competitive.

Minister of State for Regional Development, Hon. Uba Maigari Ahmadu, commissioned the institute, saying the Bola Tinubu administration is committed to investing in education as a pathway to national development.
He urged students to embrace innovation and acquire practical skills to enhance their employability.
The institute boasts impressive facilities, including two conference halls, 14 offices, a fully functional ICT Centre with 50 desktop computers, and a solar-powered water tank.
NEDC Managing Director, Mohammed Goni Alkali, described the institute as a flagship project, designed to boost entrepreneurship and job creation in the region.

Governor Agbu Kefas, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sunday Bako, and university management were commended for their dedication to improving educational infrastructure and fostering academic excellence.
The NEDC has also commissioned other projects in the state, including renovated hospital wards, staff quarters, and solar-powered streetlights.
These initiatives demonstrate the commission’s commitment to enhancing healthcare and infrastructure in the North-East region.
The commissioning ceremony is part of NEDC’s ongoing efforts to inspect, commission, and hand over completed projects across the six North-Eastern states.

The Commission’s delegation was led by the Honourable Minister of State for Regional Development, H.E. Uba Maigari Ahmadu, alongside the NEDC Chairman, Maj. Gen. Paul Tarfa, NEDC MD/CEO Mohammed G. Alkali, National Assembly Members, Executive Directors, Members of the Governing Board, and Management Staff of the Commission.

The visit is part of NEDC’s commitment to strengthening development partnerships with state governments and ensuring the timely delivery of impactful projects that improve livelihoods and accelerate sustainable growth across the region.
The team’s first place of visit was the Taraba State Government House for a courtesy call, and they were received by the Chief of Staff.
However, our Correspondent gathered that the Minister and the MD/CEO of the NEDC, as well as other top members of the delegation, are expected to have a closed-door meeting with Governor Agbu Kefas on Saturday at the TY Danjuma Government House, Jalingo.
