Modibbo Adama University (MAU), Yola, has formalized a new phase of international cooperation by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Garoua, Republic of Cameroon.
This latest accord builds on partnerships with the University of Maroua and the University of Ngaoundéré, further reinforcing MAU’s commitment to regional academic integration.
The agreement fosters collaboration in several key areas, including joint research, student exchange, innovation, and knowledge sharing.
These initiatives are expected to enhance academic excellence and drive cross-border educational advancement.
Speaking on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Iliyasu Audu, welcomed the Cameroonian delegation and reaffirmed MAU’s dedication to implementing the provisions of the MoU.
He noted that the partnership aligns with the University’s strategic vision of expanding its global academic footprint and research output.
In his remarks, the Rector of the University of Garoua, Prof. Boubakari Oumarou, expressed appreciation for the warm hospitality and praised MAU’s proactive approach to collaboration.
He emphasized that the partnership would not only strengthen academic synergy but also foster unity between the two institutions.
As part of their visit, the delegation toured prominent facilities on the MAU campus, including the University Academic Publishing Centre, the Central Laboratory, the IBB Library, and the University Solar Farm, demonstrating the institution’s robust academic and research infrastructure.
The event also featured a courtesy visit to the Government House, where the delegation was received by the Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta. She underscored the strategic relevance of the partnership in advancing both educational and economic development in the state.
Additionally, the team paid homage to the Lamido of Adamawa, His Royal Highness Alhaji Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustafa, Ph.D, CFR. The monarch welcomed the delegation and offered royal blessings for the success of the collaboration. The visit included a guided tour of the Palace Museum, highlighting the region’s rich cultural and historical heritage.
The day concluded with a group photograph, marking the start of a promising and impactful academic relationship between Modibbo Adama University and the University of Garoua.
