Adamawa State chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Comrade Shehu Kambile Yohanna has expressed optimism of his party’s overwhelming victory in the forth coming local government election billed for 13 July, 2024.
In an interview with our reporter, Yohanna said his party is actively preparing to participate fully in the election and has been going round the state to canvass for votes, noting that from the mood of the people, his party is poised to sweep many chairmen and councillorship seats.
He noted that so far, his party has campaigned in nine local governments across the state adding that the campaign train will continue till the party traversed all the nooks and crannies of the state.
When asked whether his party did not norture the fear of being rigged by the ruling party, Yohanna said, his party has been given assurances of fair play by the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) to the effect that the election is going to be free and fair.
“I had raised such concerns before the electoral body and the chairman told me that this time around the election is going to be fair and free because the governor told them to do a clean job so that he could bequeath a legacy of free and fair election in the state.
“So with such assurances, we have nothing to fear going into the election and our party will sweep a number of Chairman and councillorship seats,” he said.
