The Executive Chairman of the Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board (ADSUBEB), Dr. Murtala Umar Babayi, has been honoured with an Award of Excellence by the National Association of Adamawa State Law Students (NAALAWS).
The award recognises his outstanding contributions to the growth and development of basic education across the state.

Presenting the award, the President of NAALAWS, Suleiman Ishaku, described Dr. Babayi as a “Youth Icon” in Adamawa State, noting that the association was deeply appreciative of his dedication and service to the education sector.
Ishaku emphasized that Dr. Babayi’s efforts had made significant impacts on improving the quality of basic education in both urban and rural communities.
The award presentation was witnessed by other executive members of the association, including Ijudigal Philip Yaro, Secretary General; Bilkisu Adamu Halidu, Assistant Secretary General; Usman Shelleng; and Abubakar Ahmed Petel.

The citation that accompanied the award read, “This award is a mark of expressing our profound gratitude for the services you are rendering to develop our education in Adamawa State. We want you to know that we appreciate all you do, and here is to say thank you.”
The honour serves as a testament to Dr. Babayi’s tireless commitment to educational reform and his leadership role in shaping the future of basic education in Adamawa State.
His leadership has been lauded for its proactive initiatives and infrastructure development aimed at promoting quality learning environments across the state.
Dr Babayi appreciates the law students for finding him worthy of the award, saying it will indeed spur him to put more effort into complementing the efforts of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
The ADSUBEB chairman lauded Governor Fintiri for championing the course of basic education in the state, describing him as an education reformer.
He emphasized that the Governor has given the board all the necessary support which informed the progress made so far across the state.
