JUST IN: Emir Of Zuru Is Late, As Kebbi State Govt, Senator Na’Allah Extends Heartfelt Condolences

The first Major General who became a First Class Emir in Nigeria, Muhammadu Sani Sami (Rtd), the Emir of Zuru (Gomo II), is dead.

The Kebbi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Garba Umar Dutsinmari, confirmed the demise of the Emir in a statement signed by Ahmed Idris, the Chief Press Secretary to Kebbi State Governor, and issued to journalists on Sunday, 17th August 2025.

He said the late Emir passed away from an illness late Saturday night,16th August 2025, at a London hospital.

Additionally, the statement explained that the Monarch died aged 81 years old and left behind four wives and seven children.

“The Kebbi State Government extends its heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, Zuru Emirate Council, Zuru indigenes, and the entire people of the State.

“May ALLAH-SWT forgive his shortcomings and grant him Jannatul Firdaus, Ameen.

“Burial arrangements will be communicated in due course,” the statement concluded.

Similarly, in his condolence message, Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah who is representing Kebbi South, expressed deep sorrow over the passing of HRH Sani Sami.

He extended his heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, the Zuru Emirate Council, the Kebbi State Government, and the nation.

His message was delivered through a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Muhammad Danjarida.

Senator Na’Allah described the late Emir as a noble leader who distinguished himself in service to the people of Zuru Emirate and Kebbi State, noting that the loss is not only to the Zuru Emirate but the entire nation.

The Senator prayed to Almighty Allah to grant him eternal rest and give his family, the people of Zuru Emirate, and Kebbi State the fortitude to bear this great loss.

“Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. May Allah forgive the Emir of Zuru and grant him Aljannah as his final abode,” Senator Na’Allah stated.

Late Maj. General Muhammadu Sani Sami (Rtd) was a military Governor in Bauchi State from 1984-1985, during the regime of the late President Muhammadu Buhari.

Born on the 24th October 1943 and retired from service on the 3rd September 1990, as well as became the Emir of Zuru in 1995.
