The Taraba state branch of the Basketball Association of Nigeria, NBA, has called for increased collaboration in basketball games.

The state chairman, Danjuma Musa Goyo made the call in the office of the state Director of Sports Council, George Shitta, located at the Jolly Nyame stadium along Mile Six in the Jalingo metropolis.

He highlighted the need for a unified approach to address the challenges and opportunities in the basketball industry.

Goyo who spoke during the presentation of basketballs by a Japan-based basketballer, Mbonu Lordprince Chinonso, also harped on the need for business organizations and government officials to contribute their quotas to the growth of basketball games in the state and the nation at large.

The call for collaboration, as made known by him, is aimed at enhancing the development of the game at all levels, especially from grassroots initiatives to professional leagues.

By working together, he believed they could create a more sustainable and inclusive sports environment, benefiting the people spread across the state.

This is coming at a time when the sports industry is navigating significant changes, including technological advancements, evolving fan expectations, and the ongoing impacts of global events.

Aligning his weight to that of Goyo, the Taraba State Director of Sports Council, George Shitta, was optimistic that through collaboration, they can drive positive change and ensure the long-term success of the industry.

Shitta beckoned at all and sundries to join forces with the state government to catapult sports to the heights.

He applauded the incumbent administration under the leadership of Governor Agbu Kefas, who according to him, have been given sports the much-desired attention.

Earlier, the Japan-based basketballer,
Mbonu Lordprince, who hailed from Anambra state, said he was motivated to donate the materials to the Taraba basketball team following the hands of friendship he received from the team, the sports council, and the state Ministry of Youth and Sports Development while going through the early stages of his career.

Citing how he was trained in Taraba to the extent of becoming a professional basketballer, he called on his colleagues who tread the same paths to always give back to the society that made them what they are.
