Ordinary,I shouldn’t have delved into responding to a publication authored by one Mr.Tom Garba in his online medium (Tg News blog) dated 6th October 2024.
The fabricated negative Political narrative on Chief Caleb Andrew Myebangara and other Governorship contenders in Adamawa state was said to be credited to a fictitious one Mr. Mohammed Abdullahi Dantsoho on Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s assertion that “I WILL ONLY SUPPORT A GRASSROOTS POLITICIAN TO SUCCEED ME”.
Being an advocate of grassroot politics and good Governance, iam highly rattled by the journalistic deficiency of the said author who portrayed himsel like a meddlesome interloper in the political analogy of Adamawa landscape.
The said author lacks the fountain, dexterity, audacity and capabilities for any political discourse within the Adamawa context because of his paucity of knowledge and penchant for peanuts.
He has forgotten that Adamawa is now a reference point in Nigeria with the indelible record set by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
The chronology of his alleged reports on some personalities and issues looks like a pan-handler who knocks at politicians doors to seek for daily bread but not on the core values of journalism which spelt out that;
” A journalist should strive to enhance national unity and public good. A journalist should also promote universal principles of human rights, democracy, justice, equity, peace and international understanding”
This principle is supreme for any responsible practicing Journalist in Nigeria not the ‘Yellow Journalism’ being practice by the said author.
Since his entire piece is a hoax,am not going to take him to the higher altitude of academic debate but rather put the record straight.
Chief Caleb Andrew Myebangara,is the Regional Bank Manager of Zenith Bank, Northeast and not just a floor Manager as mischeaviously portrayed in the write up.
He is the first indigenous Adamawa state man to attend this Executive Management level in the 34 year history of Zenith.
The Bank is the most Capitalized biggest Bank in Nigeria and Sub-Sahara Africa,a Global Bank of great repute.
I think, having a Son of the soil attaining to this enviable height is Worthy of commendation by all and sundry and should be accorded trust for higher responsibilities.
Haba ! Mr.Tom.
The said author and his co-Dantsoho should know that Professor Babagana Zulum was a teacher that rosed to the position of a Governor of Borno State.
Mr.Kasim Shetima was a Banker before becoming the Governor of Borno State and now the esteemed Position of the Vice President, Federal Republic of Nigeria.
It is a common gimmicks by politicians to show their interests before any electioneering period.such politicians also established a network of structures .
Others work behind the scenes and they always remained anonymous in all their support to seating Governments.
Evidently, some enjoys glory of their ‘God fathers’ when it comes to appointments while others equally merit it as a reward for their contribution during the struggle to wrestle power from the opponents.
Obviously, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has played unparallel role in propelling development even at the grassroots and he may like to handover to a grassroot politician he found worthy to consolidate on the feat achieved so far by his Government.
The Governor made it clear while addressing the PDP fold at the Banquet hall, Government House Yola recently.
The concensus of that understanding is that the grassroot will have a say when it comes to his successor. The next Governor will be a person that is in touch with the rural populace not yahoo politicians that resurface only during elections.
Chief Caleb Andrew Myebangara has been flying the flag for rural entrepreneurship and empowerment.
He understands the rudiments of governance.
Chief Caleb’s leadership disposition has gone beyond the banking sector, having been interacting with people from different Political platforms, business circle, backgrounds and areas of various endeavours.
He has already won the confidence and trust of Stakeholders, civil servants,Unions, Organisations, traditional institutions, opinion leaders and religious bodies cut across different folds because of his honesty having also work closely with about seven previous Governors in running affairs of the state.
His water projects in various villages speak volumes of his desire to consolidate on Fintiri’s landmark achievements.
Such gesture is verifiable in Mubi-North and South,Gombi,Hong,Demsa, Numan, Jimeta and Yola town in Yola- south local government area.
Caleb, had for sometime, been reaching out to communities that are in dire need of assistance.
A simple example is the materials and cash donations he made to the victims of floods in Madagali and Michika local government areas.
The food and essential materials he distributed to orphanages,. motherless homes and destitutes before the recent #end bad governance protest Nationwide#
Caleb’s interventions to the vulnerables and communities is unprecedented considering the hunger and economic challenges being faced by people.
He is so passionate about health care of the people hence a medical assistance to many sick ones in hospitals particularly less previlleged at grassroots that runs in to millions of naira in various hospitals across the State.
These gesture reinforced his love for the people and propelled him as even the most qualified grassroot contender that suit the choice of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, comes 2017.
