The Igbo Delegates Assembly (IDA) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his efforts in tackling insecurity in Igboland, which had previously caused sleepless nights for residents.
In a communique issued after a recent meeting in Abuja, the IDA president-general, Chief Kenneth Okeugo, praised the President’s courage in dismantling the menace of unknown gunmen in the land.
He called on the President to further empower the security architecture to achieve total victory over negative forces in Igboland and other endangered areas of Nigeria.
Okeugo urged governors of Igbo states and security agencies to do more to protect lives and property, expressing concern over recent mass killings in the Yelewatal, Benue State.
He equally called for adequate response from security agencies.
While pledging their support to Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, under the leadership of Senator John Azuta Mbata, the IDA condemned the recent demolition of a structure belonging to Ndibe Obi in Lagos, describing it as political victimization.
They called on the Lagos State government to discourage attacks on Igbo interests and urged Igbo entrepreneurs to invest in Igboland to create jobs and bring development to the region.
The Assembly also called on Igbo community leaders in Northern Nigeria to be ambassadors of peace wherever they reside.
