How Suspected Gunrunner Caught With Submachine Gun By The Army In Taraba State

The troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/ Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have once again demonstrated their commitment to safeguarding lives and maintaining security by apprehending a suspected gunrunner named Alhaji Adamu Usman and recovering an illegally fabricated submachine gun from his possession.

6 Brigade Army Public Relations disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists in Jalingo.

The statement says the success was made by acting on credible intelligence on the 13th of January 2025, when the troops launched a carefully planned operation at the suspect’s residence in Maraban Gassol of the Gassol Local Government Area of the state. 

According to the statement, during the search, troops discovered one fabricated Submachine Gun, which is believed to be connected to illegal arms trafficking activities. 

Speaking on the successful operations, the Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa commended the gallantry and professionalism displayed by the troops.

He reassured the good people of Taraba State of the Brigade’s resolve to continue to maintain peace and combat illicit arms proliferation within the State.

The Brigade urged members of the public to continue providing credible information to security agencies to enable them to effectively address security challenges.
