The Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, has reiterated the commitment of the state government to support initiatives that promote quality education as a foundation for a productive society.
She gave the assurance while receiving a delegation from the University of Garoua, Cameroon, who were in Adamawa to deepen academic collaboration with Modibbo Adama University, Yola especially in areas focused on educational development.
Professor Farauta emphasized the strong cultural, historical, and economic bonds between Nigeria and Cameroon, noting that generations of intermarriages and shared traditions have laid a natural foundation for cross-border academic partnerships.
Highlighting the role of education in youth development, she stated that such collaborations are vital for nurturing peaceful coexistence and driving positive change within communities.
She also affirmed the state government’s willingness to offer leadership and support toward the success of the University of Garoua.
In his address, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Garoua, Professor Boubakari Oumarou, said the university, established in 2022 is looking forward to formalizing a partnership with Modibbo Adama University through a Memorandum of Understanding that would facilitate academic cooperation.
Echoing the significance of the collaboration, Professor Iliyasu Audu, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) of Modibbo Adama University, highlighted the potential for robust academic exchange in disciplines such as science, arts, humanities, and medicine.
He described the initiative as a strategic move to expand knowledge through staff and student exchange programs.
